Deputy President William Ruto has condoled with a family in Busia after one of the cars in his convoy run over a 7-year-old boy on Friday.
The boy passed on while receiving treatment at the Port Victoria Hospital.
The DP said he had been saddened by the demise of the young boy.
"Saddened by the news of the passing on of Sidney Mambala Felix, a young and bubbly boy. Followed closely the situation after I was informed of the unfortunate incident and, now, deeply condole with the family of Mzee Mambala, his peers and friends for the grave loss of a loved one," the DP said.
Ruto said he has called the father of the young boy to personally condole him. He also assured the family of his full support during this difficult moment.
"I have spoken with Mzee to pass my consideration and assured the family of reference and support during this difficult time. May God rest young Sidney in eternal peace," the DP added.
The accident occurred on Friday as the DP left a function in Budalangi where he was addressing residents.
The boy was knocked by the car that was carrying the DP's press team.
