Kalonzo attended a memorial service for Mr. Gichana's mother Celina Gichana.

The Wiper Party's presence has brought about mixed reactions among Kisii residents.

"Kalonzo's presence at Don Bosco's grand return means Mr. Gichana should not be taken for granted ahead of the 2022 politics due to his influence especially among the youth," said Nicholas Sagero.

Abel Onduso, a Kitutu Chache South resident said Mr. Gichana should be ready to vie for a top political seat in 2022.

"He is not a criminal as a section of residents are claiming. Kalonzo could have not attended the event organized by a criminal," he said.

Mark Nyabuto said it was unfortunate that Kalonzo could waste his time to attend an event which could not add him anything.

"Kalonzo is in the political cold. He attended the event so that he can remain relevant. The Gusii community will not sympathize with him," said Nyabuto.

Immaculate Ngare said Mr. Gichana's return is a new dawn to Kisii politics.

"Gichana is giving politicians sleepless night. It is a new dawn in the community's politics especially in Kisii county," she noted.
