The office of Director of Public Prosecution Noordin Haji is ready for the trial of three suspects in the death of Rongo University student Sharon Otieno.
In a case that shocked the nation last year, the mutilated of the pregnant lady was recovered at Kodera Forest in Homa Bay County few hours after her disappearance.
Prosecutor Catherine Mwaniki on Wednesday told Justice Jessie Lessit that her team is ready to tackle the defense in the agreed date, November.
Mrs Mwaniki said 42 witnesses have been lined up to testify against Migori Governor Okoth Obado and his two aides Caspal Obiero and Michael Oyamo.
"We are ready for the trial of Governor Okoth Obado, former personal assistant Michael Oyamo & former County Clerk Caspal Obiero for the murder of Sharon Otieno & her unborn baby," prosecution told the court.
The witnesses, she said, will give both oral, documentary and electronic evidence during cross examination from the defense and prosecution team.
"Prosecution led by SADPP, Catherine Mwaniki, has lined up 42 witnesses and will be inducing oral, documentary and electronic evidence in the case," read ODPP's tweet.
"The trial starts on 11/11/2019 with special hearings on 2nd & 3rd Dec 2019 when protected witnesses will testify."
While Obado admitted having been a boyfriend to Ms Otieno, he denied engineering her murder. The two other suspects also denied murder charges.
In September, Sharon Otieno's mother Melida Auma said she had forgiven those who plotted and executed her daughter in could blood.
