In a tweet on Friday, Mr Gachoka appealed to the leader of the majority in the Senate to channel his energies to the protection of the Mail Forest Water Tower.

"@kipmurkomen now that you are well let’s save the Mau Forest Water Tower so others may enjoy life with the same joy & for many years to come. Help preserve life. God will bless you even more. TG @DonaldBKipkorir @ahmednasirlaw @Paul_Muite @PalomaGatabaki, " Gachoka's tweet read.

Kipchumba Murkomen has been one of the most vocal voices on the Mau Forest issue that has seen a section of politicians in the Rift Valley region oppose the government's move to evict settlers in the forest.

The DP Ruto-backing legislator has called for a humanitarian approach to resolving the Mau debacle, saying that evicting families from the important water catchment area will result in a humanitarian catastrophe.

He wants settlers compensated before being pushed out of the forest.

Supporters of the government's eviction plan like Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina contend that Mau Forest's sustainability is threatened by human activity.
