Deputy President (DP) William Ruto on Thursday refused to field questions from journalists regarding allegations that some powerful persons in the country were plotting to assassinate him.
Shortly after addressing the press on government's plan to end Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), the DP retreated back to his Karen office, ignoring journalists who wanted him to address the assassination claims.
Reports on Nation indicate that after the DP had retreated to his office, security personnel ordered reporters to leave the premises.
Meanwhile, Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen on Wednesday revealed that the DP Ruto's security detail has been enhanced following the alleged plan to assassinate him.
In an interview on Citizen TV, Murkomen noted that Ruto was concerned over his security after the new development.
"I also saw his convoy when he left his office, it looked like it was enhanced, and so I asked one of the security guys, 'there's another extra car, two or so here and people I've never seen before' and he told me there is some work that has been done," Murkomen narrated.
Cabinet Secretaries Peter Munya (Trade), Joseph Mucheru (ICT), and Sicily Kariuki (Health), appeared before the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Monday to shed more light on the assassination claims.
