As the new year begins, its a time for various coaches, players and teams to draft plans to be fulfilled on the football pitch across the year.
For Kenya Premier League (KPL) side Western Stima’s Head Coach Salim Babu, their plan is to maintain the momentum they had towards the end of last year.
“The plan is to try our best and remain up the table. We are not through with the first leg of the season, our plan is to maintain our performance so that come the second leg, we look for points that can enable us to be within the top five teams bracket,” Salim said in an interview on Thursday.
The former Sony Sugar tactician is in his first full season at Stima, after being appointed towards the end of last season to replace Paul ‘Yago’ Ogai.
KPL teams remain with between three to five matches to end the first leg.Western Stima is third on the KPL log with 27 points after 14 matches; two points behind league leaders and defending Champions Gor Mahia. Tusker is second with 28 points.
Kisumu based Western Stima is undefeated in the last five matches, after beating KCB, Nzoia Sugar, Zoo Kericho and Chemelil Sugar coupled with a draw against Sofapaka.
Salim Babu’s team next KPL assignment is against Mathare United on January 8, 2020.
