The recent Cabinet reshuffle by the President in his address to the nation from Mombasa, an event which the DP did not attend, set tongues wagging on the real working relationship between the Jubilee pair.

However, according to Duale, a key ally to Ruto , the President doesn't need to consult the President to ring cabinet changes.

He further dismissed claims that the government is divided between the President and Dr. Ruto.

" He can even dissolve the whole cabinet if he so wishes. The narrative that the President is heading one faction and the DP the other faction is the creation of the media," said the National Assembly Majority leader as quoted by People Daily.

The firing of former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri elicited mixed reactions in the political circles amid claims that the President is keen to cut his Deputy to size even as 2022 politics gain momentum.

Kiunjuri is one of Dr Ruto's key political foot soldiers in the populous Mount Kenya region which has of late been at the centre of 2022 politics.
