Having focused on social gatherings especially funerals to popularise Deputy President William Ruto, the Tanga Tanga brigade from Gusii has now changed strategy.
Previously, the team had used funerals to push for their agenda, a strategy that often exposed them to criticism from rivals especially Dr Fred Matiang'i's team.
A youth leader who did not wish to be quoted said the team will now focus on churches where opposition is minimal with a conducive environment guaranteed.
"In funerals we are usually exposed to our competitors. They find it easy to criticise our message and thus neutralise it. We can't do same things all the time," he said.
"We shall now move from one church to another. There is less volatile politics there in and we shall capitalise on that," he added.
His sentiments were corroborated by those of nominated MCA George Mosiori, who says change of strategy is always important in politics.
"We visited Karen and we agreed to change strategy. It's normal. There is no big deal about that. The most important thing is to help our candidate to deliver."
Dr Ruto met Gusii teams a fortnight ago where he appointed Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi to head the Kisii team. North Mugirango MP Joash Nyamoko is in charge of Nyamira.
For months now, Tanga Tanga brigade has been facing rebellion from Matiang'i's team, which also works closely with opposition leader Raila Odinga.
