Speaking on Tuesday, the staunch supporter of the DP observed that currently, Ruto seems like a lone competitor, given that he is the only one who has made known his ambition for the seat.

Jumwa now wants those seeking to challenge with the DP to come out as early as now, in readiness for the mega contest.

"We want those who will be challenging you to come out as we are currently running alone. Let them hurry up and come out (Tunataka atokelezee mwenye atashindana na na wewe. Kufikia saa hii tunakimbia pekee yetu. Wafanye jaraka watokelezee)," she said.

She made the remarks during the funeral ceremony of Martha Kirigo Gachagua, mother to Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua in Mathira, an event that was also attended by the DP.

On his side, Gachagua lashed out at those accusing allies of the DP from the Mt Kenya region of disrespecting the President in the course of their endorsements for his bid.

He pointed out that those who have also been accusing them of abandoning the president are new in the Jubilee Party, and, therefore, lack the grounds to criticize older members.

"These fellows who came the other day to Jubilee and they are trying to tell is how to respect Uhuru Kenyatta and how to support him," said the lawmaker.

Uhuru has also attacked Ruto's allies from the region, also known as the Tangatanga group, accusing them of engaging in constant politicking at the expense of development.
