ODM Treasurer Timothy Bosire insists that opposition leader Raila Odinga will easily beat Deputy President William Ruto should the two meet on ballot.

About alleged upward trajectory of Ruto in sections of Nyanza, the former Kitutu Masaba MP dismissed the assertions as 'wishful thinking'.

"I have seen the other camp panicking long before an election. They are campaigning instead of backing the president's agenda.

"For me, Ruto cannot beat Raila even if the latter doesn't campaign. In Nyamira or Kisii, ODM is still very popular and Ruto cannot penetrate easily," he argued.

Despite the ongoing succession battles, Raila is yet to formally announce his candidature ahead of 2022 polls.

For Bosire, Ruto's integrity will play key in the elections, adding that he's unable to account for his wealth.

"Kenyans are not stupid. They know those who have plundered their resources and I can assure you they will be embarrassed on ballot."

His argument comes amid sharp divisions among Gusii leaders on the appropriate candidate for presidency with virtually all elected leaders from the region backing Ruto.

"We shall support Ruto as a community and that is a guarantee. He has good plans for this nation," said Richard Onyonka.
