A 37-year-old man died on the spot on Monday after he was electrocuted.
The incident happened at Tinderet village in Riomare, Borabu in Nyamira County.
Charles Orogo met his death when his employer sent him to cut down tree branches. Unknowingly, the branches were in contact with power cables.
Borabu police boss, Michael Lesmum confirmed the incident saying police officers from Matutu Police Station were notified and rushed to the scene.
"Orogo hailed from Biticha and he has been working in Borabu as a farm caretaker. His employer told him to cut down the overgrown tree branches when one of the branches got into contact with the hanging electricity wires. The deceased died on the spot following the electrocution," said the police boss.
He added that the body of the deceased was moved to Gucha Hospital morgue in Keroka.
Lesmum appealed to members of the public to be cautious when cutting trees where power cables cut across to avert such deaths.
"Kenya power officers should ensure hanging electricity wires are tightened to avoid similar deaths," he said advising residents to avoid planting trees in places where power cables pass through.
