The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has mourned the sudden death of Kibra MP Ken Okoth.
Okoth passed on at Nairobi Hospital on Friday after a long battle with colorectal cancer.
In a statement on Twitter, the party said; “We regret to have lost Hon. Kenneth Okoth, the MP for Kibra, It is sad news to the nation, our party, the people of Kibra and Nairobi County. Cancer has once again snatched Kenya a vibrant and charismatic leader who worked tirelessly to transform the lives of his people."
“As a party, we have lost a leader who stood for a stronger democracy, a vibrant leadership and a united nation. He served the people of Kibra with diligence and humility and was a lively debater in the house. Hon. Okoth wanted a better Kenya that was good and safe for all,” added the party in which the MP won the seat first in 2013.
Okoth's family made the announcement about his demise at a press conference on Friday.
According to the family, the MP was rushed to the medical facility on Thursday night after his condition worsened.
He had been diagnosed with stage four colorectal cancer and has been receiving treatment in France before he recently jetted into the country.
He has succumbed to cancer aged 41.
