Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko on Tuesday stated that Nairobi County Senator Johnson Sakaja needs to be investigated over impunity.
Speaking on the sidebar show on NTV, Governor Sonko said that Senator Sakaja has 900 billboards but he has accounted for only 300 billboards and therefore needs to be investigated on those grounds.
"I think the senator also needs to be investigated. He is not doing healthy oversight. There is no way you can be doing oversight and at the same time, you have some interest in the county.
"You operate with a lot of impunity, you cut grass, you cut trees to do your billboards. At the same time when he does his billboard, he does not want to pay revenues in the county," Governor Sonko said.
Governor Sonko went ahead to say they did an investigation and realized Senator Sakaja has partnered with some companies operating in Nairobi County to deny the county revenue despite the Senator claiming the county revenue collection has gone down.
We did our thorough investigations that senator Sakaja has partnered with some of the directors of Spotspesa to deny the county revenue and he is on record as per the answer I have tabled on 3rd of April, he said that the revenue of the county has gone down by 7.5 per cent," the governor added.
