The Governor of Taita Taveta Granton Samboja has doubled down on his vow to have the county government dissolved, citing the insincerity and brinkmanship of the county's MCAs.
Speaking to members of the press on Wednesday, the county boss said that his patience with the MCAs had worn thin and that he was ready for an election.
"The people should vote and decide so that God's will is done. If God sees that Samboja has stood with the people and he should be re-elected, praises be to him (Wananchi wapige kura, waamue na mapenzi ya Mungu ya timike. Mungu akionelea Samboja amesimama na wananchi apate tena, jina lake lipewe sifa," Governor Samboja said.
His strong words come in the wake of a tussle between his administration and the Members of County Assembly who he has accused of trying to fleece the county.
The besieged governor met with veteran opposition and Orange Democratic (ODM) leader Raila Odinga a few weeks ago to discuss the impasse in Taita Taveta.
Mr Odinga called for the warring parties to embrace dialogue in order to resolve issues but warned that there would be no choice but for another election to be held should the stand-off persist.
Samboja also met President Uhuru Kenyatta last week where he had a wide-ranging discussion with the Head of State.
