Outspoken Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo has weighed in the ongoing corruption debate that has seen Maasai Mara University being put on spot over massive embezzlement of funds.
In an apparent sarcastic message over the wealth purportedly accumulated by one Mr Noor, a driver to embattled university's Vice Chancellor Prof Mary Walingo, Ms Odhiambo says being MP is useless.
Ms Odhiambo, who is serving a third term in Parliament, posted a photo reportedly of a house belonging to the driver, who is also under DCI radar.
"Being an MP is useless. I wanna be a driver!" said Ms Odhiambo, a confidant of ODM leader Raila Odinga and an advocate of human rights.
In an expose by Citizen TV, the VC's driver was put at center stage in a web of graft related issues, that would see many people losing their jobs at the institution.
A witness claimed that the driver, who was allegedly used to collect the loot, was rapidly promoted and has built a mansion worth millions in Nairobi.
"The driver is on permanent and pensionable terms. When the VC came he was in Grade Four earning about Sh30,000-40,000 currently he earns about Sh200,000. The scheme of service had to be changed to accommodate an executive driver.
"The VC’s driver started changing vehicles; he bought one worth Ksh. 3million. He also built a big mansion. The VC had a vehicle worth Sh16million and she moved from Narok to Nairobi," claimed the witness.
Ms Odhiambo's sentiments come at the time parliament is also on spot over alleged irregular spending especially on foreign trips most recent being a conference in the US.
