Exiled lawyer Miguna Miguna has reportedly been blocked from boarding Lufthansa airlines flight from Frankfurt, Germany.
Kenya National Human Rights Commission's Commissioner Kamanda Mucheke on Tuesday said Dr Miguna has alerted him over the new development.
"Miguna says from Germany; Lufthansa Airlines has informed him that Kenyan authorities have blocked his entry to Kenya and as such he can't board," Mucheke said.
According to Dr Miguna, a notification was sent from Office of the President cautioning the airline against allowing him to board.
"In fact, the Kenya Government has demanded that Lufthansa must refund my fare. They have demanded that Lufthansa should not fly me into any other African country, either," Miguna claims.
"Lufthansa flight manager is saying that the Government of Kenya must send an official communication to Lufthansa at Frankfurt office before I can be allowed to fly to Kenya or any other African country. Lufthansa says that the red alert was issued by the Office of the President in Nairobi, Kenya."
Dr Miguna was scheduled to land at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on Tuesday evening, marking his first return to the country since his deportation in 2018.
The government is yet to respond to the claims by the fierce Canada-based lawyer.
