Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui has lauded the key role played by manufacturers in providing employment.
Speaking on Friday evening during a meeting with members of the Kenya Association of Manufacturers the county boss was categorical that the economy of the county cannot grow without the input of manufacturers.
While noting that Nakuru is on the path to achieving city status, Kinyanjui stated that his administration is keen to ensure the growth of industries to improve the local economy.
"Nakuru is on the path to achieving city status and my administration is keen to ensure the growth of industries to improve the local economy," he said.
The Forum saw participants discuss the opportunities that will come with acquiring the Nakuru City status.
Nakuru was recently voted as the best tax regime and friendly to businesses.
Kinyanjui lauded the upcoming industries such as Daima Milk and a cement factory in Salgaa.
He reiterated the county Government's commitment to supporting existing and new companies within the county borders.
"We will engage Nakuru residents to get their views on the city status through public participation and also educate them on opportunities they can take advantage of," said Kinyanjui.
