Starehe MP Charles Njagua alias Jaguar on Friday led a group of Kenyan artistes in meeting the Director-General, Communications Authority of Kenya (CAK) Francis Wangusi with play Kenyan music agenda that started last year.
Kenyan artistes have been pushing Kenyan media to play Kenyan content after it emerged that local media houses mostly play other musicians from other countries.
Most artistes allege that local media houses were mostly playing international music, Tanzania's Bongo Flava music and Nigerian music.
Jaguar, through a post on Instagram, said that they met with Wangusi and held discussions on matters affecting the music industry.
He said that media houses are forgetting local talents who are producing good and quality music.
"Today, together with my fellow Kenyan artistes, we met Mr. Francis Wangusi, the Director General, Communications Authority of Kenya (CAK) where we held discussions on matters in the music industry key among them promotion of local music content in the broadcasting industry. Our local media houses have a tendency to play more of foreign music and ignoring local music whereas we have artistes producing good quality music," Jaguar posted.
Other artistes present included Nameless, Nyanshinski, Sauti Sol's vocalists Bien-Aimé Baraza among others.
As Kenya artistes were holding a meeting to push 'Play Kenyan Music' agenda, Tanzanian star Rayvanny slammed Kenyan artistes for lack of supporting one another.
This was after one of Kenya's big artist called on the 'Tetema' hitmaker to cancel his collabo plans with an upcoming Kenyan artiste Stevo Simple Boy who went viral for his song ‘Vijana tuache mihadarati’.
