Mutua wants President Kenyatta to be firm and ignore blackmailing from politicians opposed to the fight against graft.

Speaking during an interview on Musyi FM on Wednesday, Governor claimed that some politicians are out to intimidate and blackmail the president.

The Machakos county boss further accused some politicians of using their tribes tag to stall the fight against theft of public funds.

“The president should not listen to critics whose agenda is to scuttle the war on corruption through blackmail and intimidation tactics” he said during the interview.

Governor Mutua urged President Kenyatta to be merciless and sack the ‘big’ fish linked to graft scandals.

“Kenyans are  behind the president in war against graft and he should not fear anyone,” he added.

Mutua also asked agencies involved in fight against graft not to be scared by threats from a section of politicians.

"The DPP, DCI, EACC and other agencies are constitutional offices and they should remain firm and execute their mandate fearlessly,” he said.

Governor Mutua further rubbished proposal by some politicians to trim some powers of the DPP and DCI especially on investigation and prosecution of graft cases.

Debate on the renewed fight against graft continues to rage on as a section of politicians accuse the DCI of allegedly targeting individuals and communities .

The DCI is currently probing the Sh21 Billion Arror and Kimwarer dams.

Last week President Kenyatta cautioned politicians against politicizing the fight against graft.

The president said that anyone implicate din graft scandal will face the full force of the law.
