One of the pastors at the Nairobi Central Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) church now claims his life is in danger.
Head pastor Kibiisyo Maiywa on Thursday recorded a statement at the Kilimani Police Station, stating that members of the rival faction were threatening his life.
He said members allied to the newly formed Nairobi Cosmopolitan Conference (NCC) are after his life, and have been attempting to realise their threats.
He cited a recent incident where he claimed that a bodyguard of one of the pastors allied to NCC recently accosted him with a gun within the church precincts.
The pastor who is allied to the Central Kenya Conference (CKC) told the officers that another bodyguard was armed with a knife.
His complaint was confirmed by Kilimani DCIO Fatma Hadi who said the 15 named persons have since been summoned.
“We have asked those mentioned to appear and record a statement tomorrow (Friday) at the station to help in the investigations,” said the police boss.
This comes amid attempts by the East Kenya Union Conference (EKUC) of the SDA church to reconcile the warring sides.
It comes only two weeks after the church was closed down by the police, owing to recurrent clashes, which have seen some prominent members seek alternative churches.
