Residents of Nyamira and Kisii Counties will be screened for cancer and other diseases in September, Inka medics have confirmed.
The group of doctors (Inka) are members of KMPDU from the two counties, who wants to give back to the society as part of community contributions.
On Wednesday, the team paid a courtesy call to Governor John Nyagarama and his Kisii counterpart James Ongwae, where they discussed logistics.
Governor Ongwae hailed the team for coming up with the idea, which is set to help those who cannot afford medical bills. He said Gusii leadership will support them.
"Welcomed Inka Medics Association to Kisii. This group of doctors from Kisii Community will conduct a medical camp in Kisii and Nyamira in September this year," he said.
"This is a great initiative that will help give support to patients and also offer free medical check ups to our people," he added.
Nyamira Health Minister Douglas Bosire said the team shall visit all sub counties in dates which will be communicated at a later date in September.
He said that the health department will support the move, adding that also local doctors will play an important role when the time comes.
"It's something we have been organising, I am glad that it's happening. These are our homegrown doctors who will be with us here for the first time," he told journalists.
