Facing lawyer James Orengo in courts can sometimes be intimidating given his prowess in legal profession and experience in the same field.
Last year, as lead counsel of Raila Odinga, Orengo became the first lawyer to have presidential elections nullified in the entire of Africa.
But on Thursday, after streaks of victories since Supreme Court ruling in Raila Odinga's case last September, Orengo lost a crucial case involving Homa Bay Governor Cyprian Awiti and his competitor Oyugi Magwanga.
And Charles Kanjama, the Nairobi LSK chairman may have as well sent a serious message to the legal field.
With his name popping up during the Supreme Court case when he had his application to be Amicus Curiae thrown out, Kanjama's victory in Appeals Court could further ignite debate in the legal field.
Having successfully represented Magwanga in High Court, Kanjama's faced another tough battle when he would later face Orengo, Otiende Amollo and Prof. Tom Ojieda in the appeals court in Kisumu.
He was admitted to the bar in 2003 and has since been running Muma and Kanjama advocates.
The University of Nairobi law graduate also doubles as a lecturer at Strathmore Law and Business Schools.
Should Awiti move to Supreme Court, Kanjama will have his first opportunity to face his seniors at the Kenya's apex court.
