Deputy President William Ruto is now claiming that the 'Kieleweke' faction of the Jubilee will soon opt out of the party.
The team which is led by nominated MP Maina Kamanda has since declared war on his 2022 presidential bid, accusing him of sabotaging President Uhuru Kenyatta's leadership by engaging in early politicking.
But the DP is now saying that the team is under the influence of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga and will soon exit Jubilee to join ODM.
He said that Raila is out to mobilize a massive walkout out of Jubilee as he did in KANU ahead of the 2002 elections, adding that himself and other Jubilee leaders will not allow for that.
"Hawa wanaozunguka na Kieleweke mwisho wataenda ODM. Hata hivyo tuko macho, hawa watu wa ODM hawatafanya walivyofanya KANU. (These people going around spreading the Kieleweke agenda will ultimately join ODM. However, we are very keen and will not let the ODM people do what they did to KANU)," Ruto said on Kameme FM on Thursday morning.
The DP invited the team, which he said consists not more that Jubilee members, to iron out their issues with the party instead of striving to wreck Jubilee.
He further said 'Kielewke's' dislike for him should not be the reason behind their apparent plot to destroy the entire party which was formed after a merger of 14 parties in 2017.
"Kama wako na matatizo tunaweza suluhisha hata kama hawampendi Ruto. (If they have issues then let's address them, even if they hate me)," Ruto said.
'Kieleweke' has been engaged in constant fights and war of words with the rival team 'Tanga Tanga' group which consists of pro-Ruto forces.
