Suna East Member of Parliament Junet Mohammed has accused a section of politicians of attempting to hijack the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report, ahead of its implementation. Speaking during an interview with Citizen TV on Tuesday, Junet said some political leaders have been misleading Kenyans on the report. He claimed some politicians want to use the report for their political gain, which should not be the case, since the report addresses some critical issues facing the country.
"The biggest threat to the BBI report is politicians. There are certain politicians who want to gag Kenyans. If Kenyans want to talk about the report, they should and are right to do so. Let Kenyans give their views," he said.
Meanwhile, President Uhuru Kenyatta last week extended the BBI task-force's term.
The team has been given a new mandate of traversing the country and getting additional views from Kenyans regarding the report.
The move has elicited mixed reactions, with some leaders arguing that a new team should have been given the mandate.
