For some moment on Thursday, millionaire businessman Don Bosco Gichana, insisted that he's only afraid of death, threatening security chiefs to arrest him if they want on his Friday's homecoming.
Mr. Bosco, a former pointsman for Raila Odinga in Kisii and Nyamira Counties, is making a comeback after five years in Tanzania prison where he pleaded guilty to money laundering and fraud charges.
And with Kisii County Commissioner Godfrey Kigochi insisting that he was unaware about Gusii stadium rally, Don Bosco insisted that some political detractors were working in cohorts with the security forces to frustrate him.
"Kisii County Commissioner has denied us permission to set up public address system. He claims on security grounds the function won't proceed at Kisii Stadium.
"He was over heard saying I should go perform the function in Marani. I ask him not to be used by local politicians to settle scores. We shall storm Kisii and the last thing I fear is arrest. I fear only death be informed," he stated.
But after an intervention by Deputy President William Ruto, who he had earlier paid a courtesy call, the stadium standoff was amicably solved.
Mr. Gichana, who has promised to mobilise at least one million voters from the two counties on Friday, will land at Nyakongo before proceeding to Rikenye for his mother's memorial service.
Thereafter, he will return to Kisii town for a mega rally, which is said to be troubling political heavyweights from the region.
