Philip Murgor the lawyer of Sarah Wairimu, the wife of slain Dutch business tycoon Tob Cohen, has claimed that his client is innocent until proven guilty.
Speaking to members of the press on Saturday, the former Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) said that sleuths from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) sidelined the defence in important aspects of the investigations.
"Sarah remains innocent until proven guilty by the court of law, " he said.
Murgor's intervention comes just a day after the body of Tob Cohen was discovered in underground storage at his Kitusuru home.
Wairimu who is currently in police custody is a prime suspect in what the DCI says is a grisly murder case.
Her lawyer's insistence on her innocence has seen Murgor attacked on social media by a section of angry Kenyans who hold the view that Cohen's wife is responsible for the grisly murder.
The business magnate with interests spanning from golfing and transport had been missing for 40 days.
Murgor said that his client had cooperated with the investigators as had been required of her.
Kenyans have been following the case with keen interest as it unfolds in the media.
