Nakuru boasts of a large number of education institutions, some of which have been in existence for decades.
Here are some of the most popular schools in town day and what they were known for years back.
1. Anestar Boys
Back in our days, this was the popular school which attracted students from all corners.
Its boys were 'crooks' who, apart from 'stealing our girls' during music festivals, they were notorious for student fights.
The Nakuru showground was never peaceful with them around, and always found a reason to fight other students from other schools.
Though they usually filled their buses when coming, only a few managed to return, the others ending up in police custody for causing trouble.
Interestingly, every boy who finished class eight wanted to join Anestar Boys.
Menengai High
Menengai or 'Mene' as it is popularly known among Nax Vegans was and remains a place for persons with big brains.
Its uniform gave you respect on the streets.
But the town was never peaceful when Menengai students happened to excel during sports competitions and would cause havoc across the town with their trophies on their bus.
3. Moi High Kabarak
The 'children' of Mzee Daniel Moi were and remain the most disciplined in town and were never involved in any wrongdoings.
They were hardly seen out of school unless they had a festival or sports activities to engage in.
Unlike other schools whose kids can be spotted loitering in town, you will never see a MHSK uniform in the streets.
