Controversial gospel singer Willy Paul has been on the receiving end after releasing his latest song 'Lamba Nyonyo'.
Various stakeholders in the entertainment industry including the fans, radio presenters and fellow musicians have criticized the artist for the content of the song.
Most people believe the content was inappropriate for a gospel artist.
It is during this period of criticism that renown Kenyan female musician Muthoni The Drummer Queen otherwise known as Muthoni DQ came out to advise Willy Paul to abandon the church.
In a tweet, the secular artist told Willy Paul to stick to his type of music as long as he was being real to himself.
"Ditch the church crowd&everything that comes with it. This 'bad boy' image, make it your reality. Curse on tracks. Get 100 tattoos. Do whatever & exactly what you want to do. Just write us real stories. Work with excellent producers. Shape your own sound. Own your own narrative," Muthoni DQ wrote on Twitter.
The musician further admitted that Willy Paul was a good artist but advised him to move away from gospel and gimmicks.
"I wish I had reached out to him directly. I was afraid to be misunderstood. @willypaulmsafii you are a good artist. You write & sing well. You have good control over your body & voice on stage. You have access & influence. You don't need 'gospel' and don't need gimmicks. At all," she noted in another tweet read.
Willy Paul has also insisted that he is not going to change his style of music.
