Rapper Kennedy Ombima has come out to clear the air on the motive behind his controversial song 'Wajinga Nyinyi', which remains a heated debate across the country.
In the song, Ombima, better known as King Kaka, hits out at Kenyans over their poor electoral decisions, which he terms the main reason behind their leadership woes.
He refers to them as 'Wajinga' (fools), while also accusing the government and politicians of failing to fulfill their promises, and accusing others of engaging in corrupt dealings.
Speaking to People Daily, King Kaka defended himself over claims of using abusive words against Kenyans, adding that the song was meant to challenge his fellow countrymen to make right decisions.
“This song is about all of us as Kenyans to reflect on the decisions we’ve made in the past. The reason I am not doing any media interviews at the moment is because I am not clout-chasing; I am just doing my work as an artiste,” he told People Daily.
The hard-hitting rap track continues to elicit mixed reactions from Kenyans, majority of whom, through social media, have welcomed his message as a wake up call.
On the other hand, he has not amused the political class, among them Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru who has demanded an apology for being mentioned as corrupt.
A number of woman representatives have also faulted his claim that they have been misappropriating funds meant for sanitary pads.
