Pwani University students are pushing for the resignation of their Vice-Chancellor Mohamed Rajab.
The students have affirmed that learning will not continue until Rajab leaves office because he has failed to address their grievances.
Learning has not been going on at the institution since Monday last week after the students went on a rampage.
The institution was closed indefinitely as the management attempts to resolve the grievances of the learners.
On Monday, Daily Nation established that the students have been camping outside the institution waiting for the management to respond to their queries.
Pwani University Students Association (Pusa) President Fikirini Jacobs said that the administration has been taken the students for a ride yet they are suffering.
He made the remarks when he addressed the students after he was discharged from the hospital. He declared that the strike is still on and students are not ready to take anything less than what they demanded.
“The students have come out in masses because there are serious issues affecting them. They have refused to go home and they want the problems solved for learning to continue,” said Jacobs.
He accused the administration of attempting to raise money to pay debts owed to KRA after fee increment.
He affirmed that the students are not ready to be exploited anymore.
The students who were present at the hospital pledged to support him to the end in the quest towards what they termed as education freedom.
