Thursday will yet again rekindle internal rivalry between ODM leader Raila Odinga and his two-time running mate Kalonzo Musyoka in Embakasi South by-election.

When official campaigns ended on Tuesday, the two leaders pitched tents at the city constituency, both asking voters to consider their candidates in the mini-poll.

Addressing a series of rallies at the constituency, Mr Odinga asked residents of the cosmopolitan constituency to vote for Irshad Sumra, the immediate former MP for the region.

"Will you vote for Sumra? Can I see by the show of hands? I can see that ODM is in your DNA and you won't let me down. He's development conscious and kindly confirm that on ballot," he said.

Wiper leader, Mr Musyoka on his part cried foul over ODM's approach, saying that the Orange party should have not in the first place fielded a candidate in the race

He said:" Julius Mawathe deserves to complete this term. Our ODM brothers should have not fielded a candidate. We are however sure that we shall beat them hands down. It's our seat and we shall emerge victorious."

Mr Sumra won in an election petition, forcing IEBC to call for fresh elections that would see another duel between him and Mawathe. The difference between the two in 2017 was barely 100 voters.

Last week, ODM received a big boost when the Kisii community vowed to back Sumra. Through the intervention of former Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire, the community had two of it's candidates dropping out in favour of ODM.
