A Mombasa-bound bus was on Sunday morning involved in an accident at Manga, along the busy Nairobi-Mombasa highway.
Confirming the incident, Voi Sub-County Police Commander Bernstein Shari said six passengers sustained serious injuries after the bus hit the truck.
He further noted that 24 passengers in the bus belonging to Chania Genesis company sustained minor injuries.
The injured passengers were rushed to Moi County Referral Hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment.
Shari said the driver and conductor of the bus are yet to present themselves to the police to record statements, adding that a hunt has been launched for them.
"Both drivers were not found at the scene but we have launched a manhunt for them," he said.
The police boss urged all road users to be alert, and adhere road safety rules especially during this festive season.
"Motorists should drive cautiously and shun high speeds to minimise accidents," he said.
The high number of people travelling to their rural areas for the festive season has caused increase in bus fare, and traffic jams in most roads across the country.
