Two witnesses and phone call data led to arrest of Citizen TV anchor Jackie Maribe's fiance Joseph Irungu over the murder of Monica Kimani last week, reports the Nation.
On Wednesday, a week after the controversial Kilimani murder, Irungu was arraigned at Kiambu law courts as prime witness.
Detectives investigating the matter said Mr Irungu’s phone data had shown that he was at Ms Kimani’s house at Luciane Apartments along Dennis Pritt Road.
The witnesses, the Nation says, a Lebanese national and another one identified as Owen, positively identified the suspect at a parade in Kilimani Police Station on Tuesday.
Besides the two being in constant communication, they are said to have been classmates at Kenya Polytechnic and have met both in Kenya and United Arab Emirates where the suspect works.
The two witnesses told police a day before Ms Kimani was found dead that a man who identified himself as Joe arrived at the house dressed in a white kanzu and a cap with grey and blue colours.
The two who were in Ms Kimani’s house when ‘Joe’ arrived, went to the kitchen and returned with a glass of wine to the living room where he sat and was constantly on phone.
Detectives traced Mr. Irungu's phone at Ms. Kimani's house at 2am during the fateful day after which he left and subsequently switching off his phone until last Thursday at around 3pm.
At thr gate, the guards said, he identified himself as a Mr. Dominic Kamau.
Mr. Irungu proposed to Ms. Marine, a Senior Reporter at Citizen TV early this year where the ceremony was streamed live on Instagram.
Mr. Irungu however insists that he had been shot by unknown men along Dennis Pritt Road after dropping his fiance, a account the police dispute since no spent catridge had been recovered.
