A 36-year-old woman and her 18-year old son from Siaya county are being held in police custody for allegedly killing their neighbour.
Police arrested the two on Sunday evening after allegations emerged that they had committed the crime in Siwar ‘A’ village in Ugenya Sub-County.
According to Daily Nation, the two suspects, Rose Adhiambo and William Okoth, are being held at Ukwala Police station over the death of John Otieno.
Yenga Sub-Location Assistant Chief Ooko Osiago said that the victim had allegedly issued death threats against Adhiambo.
"The victim is said to have stormed the home of the suspects and forcibly gained entry," Osiago stated as quoted by Daily Nation.
"After entering the house, the victim whipped out a panga and attacked the woman forcing her son to intervene. The woman's son was also injured in the attack," he added.
It is when the victim was trying to escape after launching the attacks that the suspects overpowered and hacked him to death.
It is however not yet clear as to what exactly led to the argument between the suspects and the victim.
The body of the victim was taken to Ukwala Sub-County Hospital mortuary after he died while being taken to the hospital.
Siaya County Police Commander Francis Kooli confirmed that investigation into the case had been launched.
