A 35-year-old woman who delivered through cesarean section at the Kerugoya Referral Hospital a week ago is seeking answers after she was only given one baby despite X-rays and Ultrasound scans showing she was supposed to deliver twins.
Judy Wangechi and her husband Lawrence Muriithi have now pointed fingers at the doctors blaming them for the alleged missing infant.
The couple of the one-week-old baby who had already prepared to get twins reported the case to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations in the area.
"All we want is to be told the truth about what happened to our other child. The hospital administration has failed to give us answers after my wife was discharged last week," the father told the Standard.
Kirinyaga County Police Commander Leah Kithei confirmed that investigations into the case had already been launched.
“This matter is currently under investigation. The officers have visited the family at its Baricho home, and has also visited Kerugoya hospital. We should give the officers time to unravel the case,” Kithei stated as quoted by the Standard.
The County Director for Medical Services George Karoki howver said that there was no infant who had gone missing at the hospital.
