About 15 people have been hospitalized after a matatu hit a guardrail along Haile Sellasie Avenue in Nairobi's Central Business District (CBD).
The 14-seater matatu is reported to have been speeding when its brakes failed leading to the crash.
Emergency services responded to the accident with medics taking the severely injured passengers to Kenyatta National Hospital.
The incident resulted in a heavy traffic snarl-up in the area as police coordinated with St John ambulance medics to evacuate the injured.
Others who sustained minor injuries were treated at the scene and released.
This week has witnessed a number of serious accidents in the city.
On Wednesday, bodaboda riders protested along University way where they spilled oil near globe roundabout.
The protest led to multiple accidents as cars skid on the oil. However, no casualties were reported. The protests were sparked by the decison by the county government to kick out the operators from the CBD.
