A body of a 15-year-old Form One student suspected to have been defiled and strangled to death has been discovered at her family house in Nyabanda village, Nyawita sub-location in Bondo sub-county
The body, identified as Pauline Akinyi Omondi, a student at Sinaga Girls' High school was discovered on her fathers’ bed by her younger brother who notified neighbours.
According to area Assistant Chief, Walter Ochieng, the deceased had recently returned back home from school following an outstanding school fees balance.
Ochieng explained that Akinyi who is a partial orphan stays with a stepmother together with two young brothers while their father resides in Kisumu town, Wednesday.
The administrator stated that one of Akinyi’s younger brothers confided to him that he saw a man who hails from the same village enter their house and started talking to Akinyi as she performed domestic chores.
Ochieng was also informed by the young boy that he immediately left to play but when he came back at around 10 am, he found the lifeless body of her sister in their fathers’ bed with a belt around her neck prompting him to call neighbours for help.
Confirming the ill-fated incident Bondo OCPD Paul Kiarie said the deceased was defiled and strangled since the body had marks and bruises on the neck.
Police, Kiarie said have launched a manhunt for the suspect who is a known bodaboda operator who has since vanished from the area after the incident.
He stated that the body of the deceased is being preserved at to Bondo subcouty hospital mortuary awaiting a postmortem analysis.
