Kiambu County government officials on Tuesday recovered over 150 cartons of counterfeit alcoholic drinks from Delmonte gardens.
The officials were allegedly tipped off by some people and on arriving at the scene, they recovered the cartons of the alcohol which is expired and dated 2013.
Kiambu County public service administration Dominic Gicheru said that they have intensified the search for other cartons that are alleged to have been hidden in the area to ensure they do not get to the public.
He added that in partnership with the police, the county askaris are looking for a man allegedly said to have distributed some of the alcohol to the public. The alcohol is said to have caused the death of seven people in Thika while others are still admitted at the Thika Level Five Hospital.
Speaking in Thika Sub-County on Wednesday morning, Gicheru called on members of the public to avoid consuming any alcoholic drinks that has not been approved by Kenya Bureau of Standards (Kebs) and taxed by the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA).
He commended the public for helping the county government fight illicit brews.
