Barrack Odour, the Nation's Homa Bay correspondent, on Thursday claimed that Otieno had revealed to him why Migori Governor Okoth Obado, who she alleged was responsible for the seven-month-old pregnancy she was carrying, had finally dumped her after many months of a romantic relationship.

Speaking to fellow journalists at Nation offices, Odour said Obado started hating Otieno after realising she had been chatting with his son

He accused the second-year Rongo University student of having an affair with his son behind his back.

The county boss, as Otieno reported, had further asked her to procure an abortion and stop posting too many pictures on her various social media platforms.

It is after Obado neglected Otieno that she approached the journalist so he could report the scandal and expose the governor.

"She also told me that she wanted the story made public because the governor had neglected her. Even so, she admitted to having received Sh100,000 from the governor three weeks before our meeting, an amount she said was too little as compared to what she had been receiving from him before he started ignoring her calls and texts," Oduor said as quoted by Nation.

When Obado stopped communicating to her, Otieno told the journalist that she kept sending some photos to him, a move she observed angered him.

"She, however, kept sending some pictures to the governor, which annoyed him. I still don't know the kind of pictures they were, but she said he was not happy," Oduor added.

On Wednesday, Otieno's mother, Melida Auma, confirmed her slain daughter had a romantic relationship with the governor, adding he was aware of the pregnancy.

"The governor (Okoth Obado) knew how the girl was going for (pre-natal) medical checkup,” she told journalists.
