Thika West DCI officers on Monday arrested a woman for allegedly stealing a baby from Thika Level Five Hospital.
The suspects reportedly stole the child at around 2 p.m on Sunday. The officers swiftly acted before the woman could run away with the four-day-old child.
She was arrested at at Ngararia in Kandara, Murang'a County moments after she attempted to escape.
"43-Year-Old Joyce WAMBUI was last night arrested at Ngararia in Kandara, Murang'a County by @DCI_Kenya Thika West Detectives being a suspect of Stealing a 4-days old Infant at Thika Level Five Hospital. While at the hospital yesterday at 2 pm," DCI tweeted.
Police said that the mother of the child had requested her to hold the kid so that she could photocopy some documents which is when she vanished.
"The child's mother had requested the suspect to hold the child for a moment as she photocopied some documents, only to turn around & find her gone. Acting on intelligence, Detectives traced the suspect with the baby today 1 am. Child reunited with the mother & having medical attention. Suspect in custody," DCI added.
