The Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) 2019 results has officially been released.

The process which experienced a slight delay begun on Wednesday afternoon.

Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha had earlier on promised that the results will be released before Christmas day.

Speaking during the release of the KCSE results on Wednesday, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) Mercy Karago said 699,745 candidates sat for the KCSE examinations this year.

"In 2019, a total of 699,745 candidates registered and sat for the examination in 10,289 examination centres. The candidates registered for subjects which were tested is 74 subjects papers, of which English, Mathematics, and Kiswahili are compulsory. Assessment of candidates for the 2019 examination started with the administration of the school-based projects for the group 4 subjects, in January 2019," Mercy Karago stated as shown in a video shared by Citizen TV on twitter.

The KNEC boss further pointed out that the assessment of the projects in Agriculture, Art, Design, Woodwork, Metalwork, Building and construction and Computer studies was changed to ensure they are competence-based; 

The national examination began on November 4th and ended on November 27th.

KNEC chairman John Onsati mentioned that the council had worked tirelessly to ensure there was credibility in the examination process.

The marking of the 2019 KCSE experienced slight setbacks with the teachers demonstrating for better pay.
