A General Service Unit officer who was on Saturday allegedly shot in the leg will spend the next two weeks in police custody, Milimani Court Magistrate Muthoni Nzibe ruled on Tuesday.
Constable Samson Morongo Nesco was arrested over claims of terrorism, following a Saturday night incident where himself and a colleague lost their guns to unknown assailants.
Morongo and Constable Stephen Mukangi were reportedly manning the Wilson Airport watchtower when they were approached by two uniformed men who sought their help.
The two, Morongo said, claimed that their vehicle had broken down at the nearby Southern Bypass and requested them to accompany them and help them attend to the car.
They were reportedly later joined by two more uniformed men who shot Mukangi dead while Morongo escaped with a gunshot before the assailants took away their AK47 rifles.
But investigators from the Anti-Terror unit are now holding Morongo and seek to charge him with terrorism and murder, following revelations that the four assailants were terrorists.
The investigators successfully applied to hold him for longer to complete their investigations, after it also emerged that the guns had 30 rounds of ammunition each.
The judge set the mentioning of the case for August 12, reports the Citizen Digital.
