Private Evans Raro, in yet another emotional interview, insisted that military generals discriminated him by premature dismissal, which has subjected him to pain.

According to him, trouble started in early 2008 when the country witnessed spontaneous violence that delayed his return to work. He also had a patient back at home.

Due to the delays, Raro's services were terminated and days later, he was also accused of engaging in politics, contrary to KDF provisions.

"I was on leave and violence broke out. I had come to look after my ailing mother. Later, I was told that I had participated in active politics," lamented Raro.

He first joined Military Training School in 2001 and would be later posted at the Laikipia Airbase in Nanyuki, several miles from the capital Nairobi.

After his dismissal,  a desperate Raro joined Orange Democratic Movement party team when he will be occasionally hired to provide security.

His loyalty and discipline handed him close links to ODM leader Raila Odinga, who he guarded throughout 2014 to 2017. During Okoa Kenya demonstrations, he was the lead security leader.

At some point in the streets on Nairobi during the demonstrations, Raro was pictured helping Kisumu Governor Anyang Nyong'o to beat Police officers tricks.

Later, he was given an employment as an enforcement officer in the county government of Nyamira, a job which he says does not satisfy the needs of his family.

"I have no regrets. I have guarded the mighty. I have given services with loyalty. However, I don't like the kind of life am living. It doesn't befit my status," he said.

The former soldier now wants to return to the Kenya Defense Forces at 40 and help in executing his previous duties as Air Force man.

"I just want my job back. I did nothing wrong. I was victimised just because of bogus suspicions. I never joined politics before that," he added.

Whenever dignitaries are in Nyamira like in the recent case of Chief Justice David Maraga or Dr Fred Matiang'i, Raro would be seen organising for their security details.
