Dr. James Nyoro was on Friday sworn-in as the third Kiambu Governor by Justice John Onyiego.
Nyoro took the oath of office at the county headquarters at around 12:45 pm local time, effectively replacing Ferdinand Waititu.
Nyoro's swearing-in was postponed on Thursday after the Judiciary raised legal questions which would have rendered the process null and void.
Nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura and Kiambu Senator Kimani Wamatangi along with Kiambu Woman Representative Gathoni Wamuchomba graced the occasion.
Earlier on Friday, a court sitting in Nairobi declined to issue Waititu with conservatory orders to block the swearing-in of his former deputy.
Waititu, who was impeached by both the Kiambu County Assembly and the Senate, has since challenged the process in court.
The former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu served as Embakasi MP before also serving in Kabete prior to his victory against William Kabogo in 2017.
Besides the impeachment, Waititu is facing a corruption case in court where he is alleged to have swindled over Sh588 million.
Nyoro, a key ally of President Uhuru Kenyatta, has not been in good terms with the former governor, whose real chances of bouncing back were completely thwarted following Friday's swearing-in of Nyoro.
