The employees have vowed not to return to work until the facility is upgraded to provide better health care to the patients from different parts of the nation as well as global.

There was a proposal to upgrade the facility to a parastatal status but the move never came to see the light.

The management has now asked the government to ensure that the salaries and allowances of all members are improved with immediate effect as promised earlier on for the sake of better performance.

Kenya Union of Domestic, Hotels, Educational Institutions and Hospital Workers (KUDHEIHA) has accused the KNH board of ignoring the plight of medics in critical decision making.

In a letter signed by Health Principal Secretary Mary Ngari, the staff said that their needs are paramount and they must be addressed as soon as possible.

“Please note that the salary band should be used by the Board in the determination of salaries for the rest of the staff,” read part of the letter, as quoted by Capital FM.

The staff said only the salary of the CEO has been adjusted as suggested in a past proposal but the rest of the staff have no reasons to smile.
