Former Makadara Member of Parliament Bernard Mutura has warned the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party against casting too much confidence in its Kibra parliamentary race candidate Imran Okoth.
Speaking on Saturday, the Jubilee member said that just like the other members who were elected on the party ticket and decamped, its very likely that the Jubilee Party leadership will poach Imran.
Consequently, he said, a win for him is almost similar to thay Jubilee candidate in the same race McDonald Mariga, terming him a man very likely to cross over once elected.
"Jubilee has two candidates in Kibra; the handshake one and the other one who is steady (Jubilee iko na candidate wawili pale Kibra; wa handshake, ambaye atakuja tu na yule mwingine imara)," he said.
The ex-lawmaker made the remarks on Radio Jambo's Mazungumzo Waziwazi show on Saturday morning, also attended by ODM Nairobi county chairman George Aladwa.
Aladwa, also the sitting Makadara MP laughed off the remarks, saying that Imran is a steady member of the Orange party and expecting him to betray the party is laughable.
He stated that the fact that he has received endorsement from a number of Jubilee parliamentarians doesn't make him Jubilee-friendly as is being claimed.
"Imran is an ODM candidate, its not wrong being supported by Jubilee members (Yule candidate Imran ni wa ODM, hakuna candidate wa handshake. Si vibaya kussupportiwa na watu wa Jubilee)," he said.
