Criminal lawyer Cliff Ombeta has said his bravery and courage is the reason why many people suspected of criminal offences scramble for his legal representation.
Ombeta is known for his expertise in criminal law, and has appeared in several cases that include; Sharion Otieno murder, Tob Cohen murder, Willy Kimani murder, Akasha brothers drug case among others.
In an exclusive interview with the Star, Ombeta said he is approached by many suspects due to his courage, and ability to pursue such cases, when many other lawyers seem to avoid them out of fear.
"Because they know that I'm brave first of all and I will not be afraid. Most lawyers are afraid to touch capital offence cases, thinking it could be dangerous. They want someone who can stand up and ask the police the hard questions and they know that person is me. Also, word spreads among them while in custody and they look for me," he said.
He also rubbished claims that he is a bail application lawyer who is only good at securing temporary freedom for his clients, saying that he on most occasions secures a win.
"For those who say I'm a bail application lawyer, they have probably seen me doing bail, but do they follow up those cases to the end? Cases are most interesting when people are brought to court and, of course, bail is the first thing to be canvassed," he said.
He dismissed claims he is an expensive lawyer, saying his dressing should not he used to brand him rich.
According to Ombeta, he welcomes negotiations with possible clients, and can even handle a case free of charge judging by the situation on the table, adding that he is always available.
"People out there assume I am rich and unaffordable, it's a perception. I am available and if you come to me, we will talk. I also do pro bono cases and I attend their matters too," he added.
