Former President Daniel Moi's Press secretary and family spokesman Lee Njiru has said that Mzee Moi is in a better condition.
According to his statement on Tuesday, Njiru assured the nation that all will be well because Mzee Moi was conscious.
However, he was displeased at how the media are handling the news surrounding Mzee Moi's health.
"He is alert and conscious of his surroundings. The family is asking the media to, in this regard, publish only the medical bulletins issued through the legally established official channel," Njiru said as quoted by Star.
He has also welcomed the messages of wishing a quick recovery to Moi who was admitted at Nairobi Hospital.
''The family is extremely thankful and grateful to all Kenyans and well-wishers from abroad for their prayers and 'speedy recovery' messages,'' added Njiru.
Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi was among the Kenyans who were shocked by the headlines that covered the health of Mzee Moi, and he took to his Facebook account where he bashed one of the local dailies.
"I woke up this morning and I was surprised to see screaming headlines on our local newspapers detailing how Mzee Moi is unwell. This is shameful, primitive and a show of disrespect from the media. Have we run short of issues and news in our country?" Sudi stated while adding that the family of the former Head of State must be respected.
