Renowned city lawyer Donald Kipkorir proposes that police officers be mandated to shoot disobedient citizens.
"In America, if one disobeys Police instructions or dares attack, Police have justifiable right to kill .. In Kenya, we have allowed rogue individuals to assault & disobey Police Orders... Our Police must be mandated to shoot to kill such rogue citizens. All Police must be armed," tweeted Kipkorir on Thursday.
Kipkorir's sentiments came after a video of a cab driver assaulting a police officer went viral.
The clip captured the police officer struggling with a man inside a Nissan March car, KCT 730Q before residents rushed to the scene to save the officer.
The driver sped off. Nairobi Traffic Police Commander Joshua Omukata confirmed the driver had caused an accident in Karen and an alert had been given to traffic officers on duty.
The drama ensued when Traffic officers on Ngong Road next to the Nairobi Montessori Preparatory School flagged the car down and the fight ensued.
The man identified as David Kariuki, 41, was arrested in Gikambura, Kikuyu on Thursday by DCI detectives.
