A police officer in Kisumu was arrested on Thursday at Jaromogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referal Hospital (JOOTRH) after he was accused of defiling a minor who was in police custody.
The arrest came after members of the public together with the family of the victim stormed the hospital and demanded the officer's arrest.
Reports from NTV indicate that the officer had taken the young girl for a medical examination after defiling her at his place.
The officer who was recognized only as Kipsang was consequently locked at the JOOTRH before the police came in to apprehend him.
"The kid has been bought to us, and as to go the normal procedures in cases of sexual violence. And once that is done then we will have the evidence which we will present forward, and the policeman has been arrested," Peter Okoth, The Chief executive Officer (CEO) of JOOTRH, stated.
It is alleged that the mother of the form one girl had called police officers to arrest her after she defied her orders and attended a night party.
The girl was arrested and taken to Ratta Police Post in Seme, Kisumu County where she met her ordeal.
The mother claimed that her daughter was experiencing pain when she met her after being held in police custody.
